Jenny Everywhere

Jenny Everywhere aka "The Shifter" is an open source, public domain character. She was specifically created to be as such, when her creators could not find any other truly open source, public domain characters.

Jenny Everywhere is described both as existing in every reality and being able to shift between realities. This gives the character the ability to be inserted into the continuity of any existing or new work, such as various comics or webcomics. The concept may be extended to other media as well. She was originally created by Canadian comic book artist Steven Wintle, who uses the internet alias Moriarty, and co-developed by members of the Barbelith online community.

According to the character's website:

She has short, dark hair. She usually wears aviation goggles on top of her head and a scarf around her neck. Otherwise, she dresses in comfortable clothes. She is average size and has a good body image. She has loads of confidence and charisma. She appears to be Asian or Native American. She has a ready smile.

In the post where he first proposed the character, Wintle described her as:
If I had to compare her to anything, it would be like if Tintin listened to Le Tigre and joined the Fantastic Four. She's excitable, passionate, attentive, curious, and caring. Like Captain Marvel, she's just a really powerful kid.

What if Week 2

Twisted vision of Warren Ellis proposed what if Malcom McLaren, producer of New York Dolls and the Sex Pistols, had the rights to The Justice League back in '77. Low budget here we come.

The Bat-Man circa 1920's

Another exercise for Whitechapel Forum.

Jeff Hawke

Remake/remodel from White chapel forum, check out all the cool work here. I started this one in a different direction but there was another post that was close to my first idea.  Been doing this for 30 years I'm used to changing in the middle of a job (followed by a loud sigh and another drink being poured).

One TV wants what the other one has.  This happens more often than you would think.

Spooky

For Illustration Friday Spooky theme. Spooooooky (the more o's you add the scarier it gets, true story).

Yeee-Haw

The Illustration Friday theme is 'Transportation'.  I could have done something inspirational and deep like a fairy tale book with wings, but I'll leave that to some guy with a silly french sounding name like 'Mark Winedrinker' or whatever.  This is transportation of the manly kind.

Captain America - Sort of

From WhiteChapel:
Here's what you know.
A "doctor" with a funny foreign name performs a "procedure" on a skinny geek which turns said skinny person into a "super-soldier." It is decided that no-one must know who this person is, and so they are given to the US Army under the name "Captain America."
Possibly you weren't paying full attention when this was being explained to you. Possibly you have a drinking problem. And those headaches have been getting worse. Also, as the person who looks just like you and follows you around all day has commented, your poop has turned grey.
NONETHELESS. You must take what you heard and turn it into a character design.

It was the grey poop part that really had me worried.

Experimenting on the Whitechapel Draw Each Other 2010 folks with some new to me techniques.

Gran Torino

If I have to explain this one you haven't been paying attention.  I won't be getting one of these anytime soon though, even my suggestion of painting safari zebra stripes on my Element was met with a scoff.

Scooby Doo Doctor Who

Not sure what this is all about, just a thought I couldn't get out of my head after reading the latest challenge over at Whitechapel. And before anybody busts me, yes I did use a coloring book as reference for Scooby and the gang.

Atmosphere

This week's Illustration Friday is Atmosphere, I figured what better than a french cafe?  Well ok, a dark bar with beer and cheeseburgers is better, but I had this illustration started for MetroGreek and it fit in well.

Weird Tales

A cover remake/remodel from the Whitechapel forum.  Went for creepy on this one.

Star Gazers

Last minute and literal post for Illustration Friday.  Part of an original piece for the guys at MetroGreek.

Another Remake/Remodel of Wonder Woman, little more angry this time.  Not me, the drawing.

Love Crime Detective

Another remake/remodel over at Whitechapel.

Not So Good Morning

The nice folks over at Whitechapel's 'Draw Each Other' forum are turning into a comic book in my head.  Hope some of them get out before it's too late.

Not Sure Where I Was Going With This

Ever start something then come back to it and have no idea what you were doing?  Had something to do with bright lights.

Meanwhile...

Dude's got somewhere he's supposed to be. Up to no good probably.

Trying Something Different

Not sure if this works, might be to gimmicky.  Anybody out there have any opinions? Hello is this thing on?

Double

This week's theme over at Illustration Friday is 'Double'. This is part older project where I had to give Monopoly Guy a girlfriend, I added double sixes, double hotels and more money.  It works cause old bald guys need more money to get the hot chicks. That's what they tell me anyway.

If Only

Cartoons always have the best ideas, except Road Runner, that big catapult is why we don't have Timmy with us any more.

Redhead

Just another portrait, nothing to see here folks, move along.

Breakfast

Haven't done an Illustration Friday for a few weeks.  Thought I should jump in, I'm need to restart the bunny slipper trend so my neighbors won't make fun of me on my evening walks.

Happy Headphone Guy

Why is Headphone Guy happy? Hell if I know, I just draw the pictures someone else writes the stories.

A remodel challenge from Whitechapel for Bat Girl.  I was thinking of back to the detective roots of early Batman.

Sizer Face

Just noticed that Illustrator/Designer Paul Sizer can spell his name with his face.  Can't do that with Fred. Bummer.

No More Mr. Cartoon Guy

New Challenge from Whitechapel Forum:  ANCIENT COVER REMODEL: BLAST 3

BLAST was the short-lived literary magazine of the Vorticist movement in Britain. It had two editions, the first published on 2 July 1914... the magazine has become famous as emblematic of the first modern art movement in England and is now recognised as one of the seminal texts of 20th-century modernism. The magazine originally cost 2/6.
You are the designer for the long-delayed third issue of BLAST. The above is what you know about it. Approach it in any way you see fit.

Decadence

This week it is an ancient cover remodel challenge from Whitechapel Forum. We are to follow up with volume 14 of the Yellow Book and retain the sense of Aestheticism and Decadence, and yet be of its time.

Ankles = Decadence. Yowza.

New Worlds

A new remake/remodel challenge from Whitechapel Forum, this time to update an old British Science Fiction magazine.  Sorry I don't have a witty comment for this one.

Wonder Woman Challenge

Another remake/remodel challenge over at Whitechapel Forum.  Since I have the curse/gift that everything I draw ends up looking "cute" these superhero kind of things are definitely a challenge for me, but hey, I got to spend some time imagining Linda Carter in a toga. There is nothing wrong with that.

Apologies to Saul Bass

Another remodel challenge from Whitechapel forum.  Someone in there mentioned Saul Bass and I thought it would be a fun exercise.

Argos

For the 'Draw Each Other' thread at Whitechapel Forum .  Now why a cute girl wants to call herself 'Argos' is unknown to me.  'Argos-the-Destroyer', now that's a name I understand.

Andre's Summer at the Beach

This week's Illustration Friday word is 'DETECTIVE' Thought I would play around to see how dark I can make the background colors. The title comes from the painting in the room, 'Andre's Summer at the Beach'

Andre does love the beach, wether or not this is what led to the clandestine visitor is unknown.

Tug O War

War, what is it good for...

Smite yon foul stone

Remake/Remodel over at Whitechapel: Tiger Hart of Crossbone Castle is a dual sword-wielding pseudo-medieval warrior who battles against lawbreakers on the planet Saturn. In his one known exploit he fought to recover Queen Hilda and the Solinoor Diamond from Turk-the-Terrible and his Talon Man. He shattered the diamond with his sword so that no one would ever kill for it again. Tiger Hart is fairly brutal. He tortures two of Turk-The-Terrible's men by hanging them up over a pit of tigers and threatening to cut them loose.

Long time since I've done any fantasy/superhero kind of stuff. Donno about this one, might have to go back to drawing bunnies.

Illustration Friday: Linked

This weeks theme over at Illustration Friday is 'LINKED'.  After looking at this again I think I forgot a couple of legs. Good thing I draw pictures for a living, Doctorin' probably wouldn't have been a good choice.

My Kind of Dip

This week's word over at Illustration Friday is "DIP".  I could throw in a bunch of bad 80's tags like "Guacamole, it's not just for breakfast anymore" or "Guacamole, it does a body good", but I'm just not that kind of guy. I'll just leave you with "Guacamol-hooray!", and my sincere apologies.

Young Romance

This is for an informal challenge over at Warren Ellis' White Chapel.  I have been reading his Freak Angels Comic for about a year and just discovered that he has these REMAKE/REMODEL challenges in his blog, so I figured what says young romance more than THE HOOK...  Yeah, everybody loves a good hook story.

Da Blues

Some day this might be looked at as part of my 'skinny leg big butt period'.  More likely it will be filed under 'people who look like kumquats'.  My drawing style has changed over the years but I still revert back to this crosshatch shading when I goof around.

Aunt Bea Has Issues

Post number one. This one of the reasons I started this blog, I have a butt load of drawings that just might not fit in my portfolio for one reason or another. The reason is obvious here, Aunt Bea whuped Opie with an ax handle, not a tire iron.
